Artist’s Statement
First off, I fundamentally believe that Everything Is Possible and that any Art should be a meditative interaction between the work and the viewer and cause some type of reflection. Having been born with Synesthesia, also known as hearing in color, the combination of this hearing color and its stimulus becomes the foundation of the work. The application is a layered process from one week, or month to another allowing the paint to dry in various stages, letting new elements or influences, enter the canvas and attract themselves to the work in the form of color, sound and texture. I work in oil because of the slow dry period, giving new inspirations time to present themselves and take shape and form.
Like all artists, I simply paint what I see and feel, but also what I hear, so sound becomes an intricate part of the process and reflective in the work. The integrity in color and its vibration is the essence of what the work is trying to communicate.
No environment is ever static and so my work is always In-Motion.
My wish is that the paintings represent this integrity and ultimately speak to a sense of balance the way one’s favorite music would resonate to a listener. This is how we experience harmony and how the viewer might experience my work.
